Despite what the recent weather might have us believe, Spring has officially sprung and that means many of you might be itching to wear shorts as the weather heats up. One of the number one complaints we get from women is about spider veins. Spider veins are those tiny purplish or blue blood vessels that are visible on the surface of the skin. They commonly occur on the legs, but can surface on the face as well.
Dr. Oz has a nice video about spider veins versus varicose veins, how they form and some treatment options. Please take a look at the video above.
At DYA, we can often successfully treat spider veins on the face and body through the use of laser-based procedures. Lyra laser light is attracted to the bluish color in leg veins and vaporizes the vein. The vein is sealed off, and disappears. For facial veins, the Aura laser is used for treatment. We have found that most patients with leg veins usually require 3-5 treatments. Facial veins may need 2-3 treatments.
